ATVB Message from the Chair

Welcome to the Council on Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology! I am honored to serve as the Chair of the ATVB Council and continue furthering the mission of the AHA. Our goal is to engage scientists and clinicians working to improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of atherosclerotic, vascular, and thrombotic diseases around the globe.

A key factor to our Council is our science: we strive to promote and uphold our member’s key findings and research through our Vascular Discovery: From Genes to Medicine Scientific Sessions, held each Spring, and the AHA Scientific Sessions in the Fall. Through these conferences, we provide ample opportunities for Council members to be a part of the science by networking with like-minded peers, attending the most late-breaking science, publishing their newest research, as well as celebrating our member’s achievements by supporting them with numerous travel grants and awards.

In addition to this, we are very proud of our journal, ATVB. This high-impact journal publishes original research findings subjected to rigorous peer review and solicits reviews from authoritative leaders in our field. The ATVB Journal recently celebrated its 40th anniversary, and in 2019 – 2021, our members had two papers published and 44 co-published.

We have several opportunities for our members to build leadership experience and further their professional development by joining one of our many committees, such as the Early Career Committee, Diversity Committee, and/or Women’s Leadership Committee.

We could not be successful without the support of our Council Members. If you are a clinician, scientist, or trainee interested in arteriosclerosis, lipoproteins, thrombosis, vascular biology, or vascular disease, I encourage you to become a member of the ATVB Council and think of ATVB as your career home.
